Jolkona
Jolkona, in Bengali means drop of water. The philosophy of Jolkona is that every drop of charity counts.
Jolkona works to encourage donations from the young, in an amount that everyone can afford and to provide feedback on how their gift was used. Jolkona informs potential donors through social media sites and 100% of each donation goes to the intended charity. All of Jolkona’s expenses are covered by donations directly to Jolkona.
There are five projects that we look to fund through Jolkona: a $15 donation will provide four months of oral contraceptives, $40 will build an energy efficient stove for a family, $200 will build a latrine and septic tank for a family, $300 will fund cataract surgery for one person, and $500 will fund one year of tuition, room and board for an orphaned or lower-caste child.
